In 1965, the AN/GRC-103, was developed under a joint Defence Development Sharing Agreement (DDSA) between Canada and the United States and is considered to be the first military digital radio-relay system. The 1Mb/s UHF radio set was successfully delivered to military customers in over 25 countries. It sold in larger quantities than any other radio relay set and was in production for 30 years. Some units were still in service in 2017.
